Exposure of Impacted Teeth
What is Exposure of Impacted Teeth?
Exposure of impacted teeth is a surgical procedure designed to uncover teeth that have failed to erupt properly into the dental arch. Impacted teeth can cause discomfort, crowding, damage to adjacent teeth and other dental issues if left untreated. By exposing impacted teeth, Dr. Bikey can facilitate the proper eruption and alignment of impacted teeth in conjunction with your orthodontist.
What to Expect During the Exposure Procedure:
During the procedure, Dr. Bikey will:
- Make incisions in the gum tissue to access the impacted tooth.
- Gently remove any bone or soft tissue obstructing the impacted tooth’s eruption path.
- Often times an orthodontic bracket will be glued to the impacted tooth to allow your orthodontist to bring this tooth into its proper position.
