What should I expect during my first visit to Pacific Oral Surgery?
During your first visit, you will have a consultation with one of our oral surgeons. We will review your medical and dental history, perform a comprehensive examination, and discuss your specific needs and treatment options. This visit may also include diagnostic imaging, such as X-rays or 3-D scans, to accurately plan your treatment.
How do I prepare for a procedure involving sedation or anesthesia?
If your procedure involves sedation or anesthesia, you will receive specific pre-operative instructions. Generally, you should not eat or drink anything (including water) for at least 6 hours before your scheduled procedure. You should also arrange for someone to drive you home afterwards, as you will not be able to drive for 24 hours following sedation or anesthesia.
How long does the recovery process take after a dental implant surgery?
The initial recovery period for dental implant surgery typically lasts a few days to a week, during which you may experience some swelling and discomfort. Complete healing and integration of the implant with your jawbone, a process known as osseointegration, can take several months. We will provide detailed post-operative instructions to help you manage your recovery effectively.
Can I refer a patient online, and how will I know they have been scheduled?
Yes, referring doctors can submit patient referrals online through our website. Once we receive your referral, we will contact the patient directly to schedule their initial consultation. We will also confirm with you that the referral has been received and the appointment scheduled, ensuring you are informed at every step of the process.
